The Eclectic Kat

handmade with a smile

Measure twice

Recently while making a messenger style bag, I found myself musing on how I didn’t realize I had made the strap about a foot too long.  I know I measure all the pieces more than once.  Perhaps I was miscalculating how long a cross-body strap would need to be to fit a woman.  Once I had put everything together and trying it on, I was shocked.  I ended up cutting out a foot, ripping a few seams, and putting it all back together.  I guess I should be happy was cutting fabric out and not having to add more.  Either way, this has turned out to be my favorite bag to date.
